The flight yesterday (the day before?) was uneventful and smooth. The sun was dipping into the Pacific as we took off from LAX, which was such a nice goodbye from LA.
We enjoyed our inflatable neck pillows, the perfectly portioned meals, and the in flight entertainment very much. It really reminded us how domestic flight use to be not long ago. Kristen attempted to speak German to the flight attendants while asking for two glasses of red wine, which is when we learned that she seems to involuntarily make a comically sheepish face when she speaks languages other than English. The flight was under 12 hours long, and before we knew it, we were flying over the UK and then Europe!

Zurich Airport is a stunning example of modern architecture, with tons of glass, soaring columns, and a real attention to detail. When we got off the plane, Kristen succomed to her tourist impluses and started taking pictures.
After having grabbed a bag from luggage and a bottle of rum from the duty free, we were met by our wonderful friends, Ramona & Joshua! After a short train ride, we arrived in their neighborhood, where they are currently living.
After a lovely short walk through quiet, practically car-free streets that are lined with more amazing modern architecture, past railroad tracks and gardens, we arrived at their place.
We had a fantastic evening, where we were so generously fed some delicious home cooking, rhubarb Mojitos (with mint and rhubarb from the garden) and beer.
