We have just set our bags down in our room at Hotel Bernardi in Venice, Italy. Our room is small and quaint with windows that look out over rooftops and down the street.
Milan was a big, very busy city who's landscape put new buildings next to very old. The hotel we stayed at was super modern, with an in-room touch pad on the wall that supposedly did everything, (but we got it to do nothing,) and it was right in the middle of a very busy shopping district. The majority of our second day was spent exploring the Castello Sforzesco, which is a really big, very old castle that was built in the 14th century, and is filled with a number of remarkable museums.
While we did stop back off at the Duomo, we only stayed long enough for a quick espresso and panino in an adjacent cafe, then off we went to figure out how to get ourselves onto the correct train bound for Venezia, or Venice, which we did!
Here in Venice, absolutely everything is very old, which makes it hauntingly beautiful. We are sharing a bathroom with 3 other rooms, and you can't hear a siren or engine, even if you wanted to. All we can hear right now are birds singing and the voices of people murmering from a cafe down the street (which is only 5 feet wide, btw.) It really could not be more different from Milan.
Now we are going to clean ourselves up & grab some dinner.
Ciao! <3 K+S
Feed the pigeons in st. Marks square! It's awesome! Also eat turbot fish if you can find it, my personal favorite. Have fun =D -Ben & Edward
